Our chapter territory currently includes membership in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany and their vicinities (essentially all of the New York State except for Metropolitan New York City).
The main purposes of the UNYAPM are:

• To encourage interest and training in medical physics and related fields.
• To prepare and disseminate technical information in medical physics and related fields.
What are the benefits of UNYAPM membership?
Networking: The UNYAPM conducts two annual meetings (spring/fall) that offer opportunities for professional networking with others interested in medical physics in the Upstate New York area, as well with the sponsoring companies;
Exchange Information/Experience: Through scientific and professional symposia during the UNYAPM annual meetings;
Contribute: Full members have the right to hold elective office, the right to vote, and the right to sit on committees;
Representation at the AAPM: The chapter has a representative at the AAPM-board! Connect with him/her and let your voice be heard
How do I become a full member of the chapter?
Individuals interested in the purpose of the UNYAPM Chapter are invited to submit a membership application. The chapter dues are $20.00 annually for full members. This fee is waived for the first year of membership for all of our new members.
How do I become a junior/student member of the chapter?
Junior membership may be held by individual members engaged in a graduate training program directed towards a career in medical physics or a related field. To be eligible for student membership you will need to provide a reference from your program director.
There is no membership fee for junior/student members.
How do I pay the chapter membership dues?
Most members pay their dues online during their AAPM membership renewal period. But if you would like to pay your dues directly please contact the chapter’s secretary/treasurer.
When/where is the next UNYAPM meeting?
The chapter conducts two meetings annually (spring & fall), which feature scientific and professional symposia with proffered and invited talks. The fall meeting also includes an annual Recognition Lecture where we host a guest speaker who has made commendable contributions to the Medical Physics Field. There is also a Young Investigator competition held at both meetings. All meetings include lunch and/or dinner and are in an easily accessible location.
Chapter meetings are generally held in May and October of each calendar year, rotating through Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse. The program outline and science abstracts are distributed by email to the chapter’s members prior to the meeting.
How do I submit an abstract the upcoming meeting?
A call for abstract is typically sent out 2-3 weeks prior the meeting. Abstracts in the scientific and/or professional topics of medical physics are welcome and encouraged; please adhere to AAPM abstract standards. Include a talk title, author list, and abstract of not more than 300 words. The time allotment for each talk is typically 15 minutes, but speakers may request more or less time at the time of abstract submission.
Am I required to provide a copy of my presentation to be posted online?
Providing a copy of your presentation to be shared online is encouraged but is optional; and is done only with your permission. Your decision whether to share the presentation or not does NOT impact abstract acceptance or award selection decisions. If you decided to permit us to post online, you will be contacted after the meeting to send us your shareable presentation file.
What are the audiovisual equipment available for presenters?
A standard PC and a projector will be available for presenters use. Please bring a Microsoft Windows PowerPoint presentation to the meeting. If you require special software or your presentation was created in an alternative format please bring your laptop with a VGA connector.
